While 1,150 scientists from Turkey were included in the list of the most influential scientists in the world, created every year by scientists from Stanford University, 50 names from ITU were included. ITU ranked first among the Turkish universities that entered the list.

Prof. Dr. Metin Orhan, Prof. Dr. Cengiz Hacızade, Prof. Dr. Aytaç Arıkoğlu and Prof. Dr. Ahmet Cihat Baytaş from the Department of Aeronautical Engineering were included in this list.
