Students and faculty members from ITU’s Faculty of Aeronautics and Astronautics participated in the Erasmus+ Blended Intensive Programme (BIP) titled “Sustainable Use of Biocomposites for Lightweight Applications,” hosted by the University of Naples Federico II in Italy. The programme combined online sessions with on-site classes and hands-on workshops. Through these activities, our students received technical training on composite materials and sustainable manufacturing processes, and they attended presentations by international companies and research institutions.
During the programme, our students visited the facilities of leading industry players such as ATM AVIO (an Aerospace/Automotive Technology Company), CNR (the Italian National Research Council), and 3DnA (an Additive Manufacturing Company). These visits allowed our students to observe innovative production techniques first-hand and engage directly with industry experts. This experience helped them translate theoretical knowledge into practical insights and gain a clear understanding of current industry needs.
Faculty members Prof. Dr. Halit S. Türkmen and Asst. Prof. Demet Balkan also joined the event, meeting with international partners to explore future collaborations. The programme not only enhanced our students’ technical expertise but also fostered their ability to collaborate with peers from different cultures.
We extend our gratitude to Prof. Dr. Valentina Lopresto and Dr. Ilaria Papa for their kind invitation and valuable contributions to our students’ experience.
